Today, I want to share with you one of the most unique and memorable weddings I've had the pleasure of planning, where we decided to say "I do" to creativity and "I don't" to convention, especially when it came to the wedding cake.
Say cheese!
Imagine this: instead of the traditional tiers of sugar, flour, and icing, we had a magnificent structure, but made entirely of... cheese! Yes, you read that right—cheese!
This wasn't just any cheese platter; it was a carefully curated selection of the finest cheeses, artfully arranged in tiers to resemble a classic wedding cake. The idea was inspired by the couple's shared love for cheese and their desire to incorporate their personal tastes into their wedding in a fun and sophisticated way.
The "cake" featured layers of different kinds of cheese, each chosen for its flavor, texture, and aesthetic appeal. The base was a robust, aged cheddar, known for its depth and complexity, followed by a creamy blue cheese that added a bold contrast in both color and taste. The next layer featured a delightful brie, its soft, white rind resembling the frosted exterior of a traditional wedding cake. Topping it all off was a petite wheel of goat cheese, garnished with a sprig of fresh rosemary for a touch of elegance.
Charcuterie anyone?
But how did we serve it, you ask? Each layer was carefully dismantled and accompanied by an array of crackers, bread, and fruit compotes, allowing guests to create their own perfect bites. The cheese cake became not just a focal point of the reception but an interactive experience that invited conversation and delighted the senses.
The couple's decision to embrace a "cheese"cake wedding cake was a testament to their personality and a reminder that traditions can be reshaped to reflect who we are. It was an absolute hit, and guests are still talking about it!
Break the mold!
Planning this wedding taught me the importance of personalization and the joy of breaking the mold. Whether you're a cheese aficionado or simply looking for ways to infuse your big day with character, remember that your wedding should reflect your unique love story.
Let's create something unforgettable together
xoxo, Jana
